Abstract:
This study was meant to assess the adequacy of policies managing personnel records at Kisii University. The main objective of the study was to find out whether KSU has a policy managing personnel records and the features of the policy. The study ought to answer the question of whether KSU has a policy managing personnel records, the features of personnel records and the importance of personnel records.Data was collected according to research questionnaires and observation. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics such as tables and pie charts. A number of questions especially the open ended generated the data of quantitative nature. The researcher found out that there is no policy managing the personnel records, the personnel records operate without a policy in place instead there are guidelines that are used in the management of the personnel records. A policy should be put in place and approved for the management of personnel records.
